Target Information

Cyclins are the regulatory subunits of Cdc2 p34 and related cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) that play critical roles in cell cycle control.

• The Cdc2-cyclin B complex controls the G2 to M transition.
• Cdc2-cyclin A regulates S phase progression.
• The G1 to S transition is controlled by G1 cyclins such as Cyclin D1, E, and associated Cdks.

Cyclin G contains an N-terminal cyclin box and a C-terminal domain homologous to a tyrosine phosphorylation site of the epidermal growth factor receptor. Cyclin G expression is induced within 3 hours after growth stimulation and remains elevated without cell cycle dependency. Cyclin G2 shares 53% amino acid identity with Cyclin G1, with peak expression in late S phase, while Cyclin G1 expression is constitutive.
