This antibody detects endogenous levels of total MRPL11 protein.
Target Information
Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and are essential for mitochondrial protein synthesis. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit, with approximately 75% protein and 25% rRNA composition, unlike prokaryotic ribosomes. Mammalian mitoribosomes lack a 5S rRNA. The MRPL11 gene encodes a 39S subunit protein, with three transcript variants producing different isoforms. Pseudogenes corresponding to MRPL11 are located on chromosomes 5q and 12q.
