This antibody detects endogenous levels of total MRPL15 protein.
Target Information
Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and are essential for protein synthesis within mitochondria. Mitoribosomes consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit, with an approximate 75% protein to rRNA ratio—opposite to that of prokaryotic ribosomes. Unlike prokaryotic ribosomes, mammalian mitoribosomes lack a 5S rRNA. The MRPL15 gene encodes a 39S subunit protein belonging to the EcoL15 ribosomal protein family, and a pseudogene is located on chromosome 15q.
