This antibody detects endogenous levels of total MRPL10 protein.
Target Information
Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and are involved in mitochondrial protein synthesis. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit, with approximately 75% protein to rRNA composition, in contrast to prokaryotic ribosomes. Unlike prokaryotic ribosomes, mammalian mitoribosomes lack a 5S rRNA. The proteins comprising the mitoribosome vary significantly across species, making sequence-based identification challenging. The MRPL10 gene encodes a 39S subunit protein, and a pseudogene is located on chromosome 5q.
