1 µg/mL of MA5-45209 was sufficient for detection of HSP70 in 20 µg of heat-shocked HeLa cell lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 70 kDa. May detect HSP70, HSC70, Grp78, and HSP72.
Target Information
HSP70 is a heat shock protein expressed in response to various biological stresses, including elevated temperatures. The HSP70 family includes several conserved proteins such as HSP70, HSP72, HSC70, GRP78, and HSP75, which are involved in protein folding, stabilization, and cellular stress response.
- HSP70: Strongly inducible in all organisms, constitutively expressed in primate cells
- HSP72: Induced exclusively under stress conditions
- HSC70: Constitutively expressed, involved in uncoating clathrin-coated vesicles
- GRP78 (BiP): ER-localized glucose-regulated protein
- HSP75 (p75): Mitochondrial protein
HSP70 stabilizes existing proteins against aggregation, assists in folding of newly synthesized proteins, and participates in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. The HSP70 gene is located in the MHC class III region along with related genes encoding similar proteins.
