Target Information
ATG5 (Autophagy Related 5) is a key protein involved in autophagy and apoptosis. It plays a role in mitochondrial quality control, innate immune response regulation, lymphocyte development, MHC II antigen presentation, and adipocyte differentiation. Upon conjugation with ATG12, it participates in autophagosome formation. The ATG5-ATG12 complex interacts with FADD, contributing to autophagic cell death. It also associates with immune response proteins such as RIG-I and VISA, modulating type I interferon production and viral replication. Dysfunction of ATG5 is linked to diseases such as spinocerebellar ataxia.
