Product Specific Information
This antibody binds to carboxy-terminal oligo-histidine tags (6x His tags) of fusion proteins.
It also has affinity for internal His-tags but no affinity for N-terminal His-tags.
Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly expressed at the N- or C-terminal region of recombinant proteins to facilitate purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging allows detection or purification of recombinant proteins by fusing a known epitope sequence.
His-tagged proteins can be purified using Ni²⁺-NTA affinity chromatography due to the strong and selective chelation between histidine residues and nickel ions.
His tag-specific antibodies are widely used for detection, co-immunoprecipitation, and validation of tagged recombinant proteins.
