This antibody binds to carboxy-terminal oligo-histidine tags (6x His tags) of fusion proteins.
It also has affinity for internal His-tags but no affinity for N-terminal His-tags.

Target Information

The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligo peptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH).
It is commonly expressed at either N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to enable purification via immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging allows detection of recombinant proteins lacking specific antibodies by fusing a known epitope sequence.
His-tagged proteins can be purified using metal chelate chromatography due to histidine’s metal-binding properties, such as strong and selective Ni²⁺ chelation on Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents.
His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
