This antibody binds CD89 in the extracellular domain 2, outside the IgA-binding site.

Target Information

CD89 is a member of the immunoglobulin gene superfamily and encodes a receptor for the Fc region of IgA.
This transmembrane glycoprotein is expressed on myeloid lineage cells such as neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, and eosinophils.
It mediates immunologic responses to pathogens by interacting with IgA-opsonized targets and triggering defense mechanisms including:

  • Phagocytosis
  • Antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity
  • Release of inflammatory mediators

Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
