CHD5는 SNF2/RAD54 헬리케이스 계열의 염색질 리모델링 및 DNA 결합 단백질로, 태아 및 성체 뇌에서 강하게 발현됩니다.
이 단백질은 신경계 발달에 중요한 역할을 하며 Arf/p53 경로를 통해 종양 억제 기능을 수행합니다.
CHD5는 NuRD와 같은 염색질 리모델링 복합체를 형성하여 정상적인 신경모세포 성숙을 촉진하고, 과도한 세포 증식을 억제합니다.
CHD5 유전자의 결실은 신경모세포종(neuroblastoma)에서 흔히 발견되며, 이는 악성 세포 변형 및 전이와 관련이 있습니다.
