Description:
The HA58 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD54 (InterCellular Adhesion Molecule-1, ICAM-1), a 90–110 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by monocytes, lymphocytes, and endothelial cells. Expression of CD54 is upregulated on activated lymphocytes, and its interaction with ligand CD11a plays an important role in inflammatory responses.

Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Use at 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test. A test is defined as the amount of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type I integral membrane glycoprotein composed of five extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain. It contains seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares sequence homology with ICAM-2 (CD102) and ICAM-3 (CD50).
ICAM-1 binds to integrins CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) and CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1), and serves as a receptor for Rhinovirus. It is expressed on activated endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B and T lymphocytes (low), monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils. Expression increases under inflammatory conditions. Soluble ICAM-1 is detectable in plasma and elevated in various inflammatory syndromes.
