Product Specific Information

Description:
The BTLA antibody (clone 6F7) reacts with mouse BTLA (B and T lymphocyte attenuator). BTLA is expressed by peripheral lymphocytes, splenic macrophages, developing B cells in the bone marrow, developing T cells in the thymus, and mature dendritic cells (not immature bone marrow-derived DCs). It functions as a negative regulator of activation and/or function in various hematopoietic cell types. BTLA is reported to bind B7-H4, though this interaction requires further study.

Clone-specific notes:
The 6F7 clone stains CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ single-positive thymocytes. Other clones (8F4, 3F9.D12, 6G3, 6H6) do not stain these cells but show similar staining in splenocytes and bone marrow cells.

Target Information

BTLA (B and T-lymphocyte attenuator):
BTLA is a co-inhibitory receptor in the CD28 superfamily. It negatively regulates lymphocyte activation during immune responses. BTLA is constitutively expressed on most CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ T cells and decreases upon activation, remaining on Th1 but not Th2 cells. It interacts with HVEM (Herpesvirus Entry Mediator), a TNF receptor superfamily member, forming a key pathway in lymphocyte regulation and immune homeostasis.
