Target Information

Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight range of 230–250 kDa. In the extracellular matrix of connective tissues and vessels, fibronectin exists as an insoluble, cross-linked protein forming high molecular mass polymers. It is abundant during embryonic development and tissue remodeling and also present as a soluble plasma protein.

Fibronectin contains repeating modules forming domains that interact with collagen, heparin, and cell receptors such as integrins. It plays a key role in cell adhesion, migration, wound healing, coagulation, host defense, and metastasis. Increased Fibronectin expression is associated with non-small cell lung carcinoma, enhancing tumorigenicity and resistance to apoptosis. The gene encoding Fibronectin undergoes alternative splicing, producing up to 20 transcript variants, though not all full-length forms are characterized.
