Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, an additional desalting step is recommended (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Methyl-CpG-binding domain protein 1 (MBD1) is a member of a family of mammalian proteins that specifically bind methylated regions of DNA.
It functions as a transcriptional repressor by binding CpG islands in methylated promoters.
Binding is abolished by the presence of 7-mG, produced by DNA damage via methylmethanesulfonate (MMS).
MBD1 recruits AFT7IP and histone methyltransferase SETDB1 to promote gene silencing.
Isoforms 1 and 2 can also repress transcription from unmethylated promoters.
