This antibody detects endogenous levels of total KLRB1 / CD161 protein.

Target Information

KLRB1 (Killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily B, member 1, CD161) is a type II membrane protein with an external C terminus. It is expressed on nearly all NK cells and a subset of CD3⁺ T cells. KLRB1 forms a homodimeric surface protein (40–44 kDa) and plays an inhibitory role in NK cell activity. Activation of KLRB1 stimulates acid sphingomyelinase/SMPD1, increases intracellular ceramide, and activates AKT1/PKB and RPS6KA1/RSK1 kinases, promoting T cell proliferation. It acts as a lectin binding Gal‑α(1,3)Gal and N‑acetyllactosamine epitopes, and interacts with CLEC2D/LLT1 to inhibit NK cell‑mediated cytotoxicity and IFN‑γ secretion. The protein includes extracellular C‑type lectin motifs, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain.
