This antibody detects endogenous levels of total CHMP1A protein.
Target Information
CHMP1A is a probable peripherally associated component of the endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT-III), involved in multivesicular body (MVB) formation and endosomal cargo sorting. MVBs mediate degradation of membrane proteins, lysosomal enzymes, and lipids.
The ESCRT machinery functions in membrane fission events such as cytokinesis and viral budding (e.g., HIV-1).
CHMP1A recruits VPS4A/B to the midbody of dividing cells and may be involved in chromosome condensation, stable cell cycle progression, and Polycomb group (PcG) gene silencing.
