Target Information
This gene encodes a beta chemokine receptor, predicted to be a seven-transmembrane protein similar to G protein-coupled receptors. Chemokines and their receptor-mediated signal transduction are critical for recruiting effector immune cells to inflammation sites. The receptor is expressed in various tissues and hemopoietic cells, and its presence in lymphatic endothelial cells and vascular tumors suggests roles in leukocyte recirculation and vascular tumor development. It binds most beta-chemokine family members, though its specific function remains unclear. The gene is located on chromosome 3p21.3, within a chemokine receptor gene cluster.
