Product Specific Information

Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with deionized water (or equivalent) to an antibody concentration of 0.5 mg/mL.

Parvalbumin (PV) is a calcium-binding protein belonging to the EF-hand protein family, composed of a single unbranched chain of amino acids. PV is involved in calcium decay during muscle contraction and relaxation cycles, and plays a role in maintaining excitation–inhibition balance in the cortex and hippocampus. It is expressed in specific muscle fibers and fast-firing neurons.

GenScript Rabbit Anti-Parvalbumin Polyclonal Antibody is developed in rabbit using purified His-tagged human Parvalbumin (Swiss Prot: P20472) full length recombinant protein.

Target Information

Parvalbumin (PV) is a calcium-binding protein expressed in specific muscle fibers and fast-firing neurons. It belongs to the EF-hand protein family and consists of a single unbranched chain of amino acids. PV contributes to calcium decay during the contraction/relaxation cycle of fast-twitch muscles, showing a positive correlation between relaxation rate and parvalbumin concentration.

PV is also expressed in GABAergic interneurons that help maintain excitation–inhibition balance in the cortex and hippocampus. In amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients, parvalbumin immunoreactivity is absent from neuron populations lost early in disease progression.
