Product Specific Information
Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with deionized water (or equivalent) to an antibody concentration of 0.5 mg/mL.
Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) is a 27 kDa protein derived from jellyfish Aequorea victoria. It emits green light (emission peak at 509 nm) when excited by blue light (excitation peak at 395 nm).
GFP serves as a fusion protein to report gene expression, trace cell lineage, and define subcellular protein localizations.
YFP differs from GFP due to a mutation at T203Y, and antibodies raised against full-length GFP also detect YFP and related variants.
This Rabbit Anti-GFP Polyclonal Antibody is developed using purified recombinant full-length GFP protein and purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Target Information
The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains GFP that emits light in its bioluminescence reaction. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms, and as a protein tag in cell culture and multicellular systems.
As a fusion tag, GFP allows localization and movement studies of proteins and investigation of subcellular dynamics.
GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that forms a fluorescent pigment autocatalytically. It absorbs blue light (max 395 nm) and emits green light (peak 508 nm) without need for cofactors.
Its fluorescence is stable and species-independent, making it suitable for various applications such as monitoring gene expression, protein localization, protein-protein interaction studies (yeast two-hybrid), and FRET experiments.
