Target Information
BEST3 belongs to the bestrophin family of anion channels, which includes BEST1 (mutant in vitelliform macular dystrophy, VMD), and other BEST1-like genes BEST2 and BEST4.
Bestrophins are transmembrane proteins sharing a conserved region rich in aromatic residues, including an invariant arg-phe-pro (RFP) motif.
These genes have a conserved structure with similar exon sizes and boundaries, and unique variable-length 3′ ends.
