Lassa virus RING finger protein Z는 비리온 조립 및 출아 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 바이러스 생애 주기의 후기 단계에서 발현되어 바이러스 중합효소 L과 상호작용함으로써 바이러스 전사 및 RNA 합성을 억제합니다. NP 캡시드화된 게놈을 출아 부위의 세포막으로 모집하며, 숙주 단백질 TSG101 및 소포 형성 관련 단백질들과 상호작용하여 바이러스 방출의 마지막 단계를 조절합니다. 단백질 Z의 미리스토일화는 세포 주변부에서 SSP-GP1-GP2 복합체와의 결합 및 바이러스 출아에 필수적입니다. 또한 숙주 eIF4E와 결합하여 단백질 생성을 선택적으로 억제합니다.
