The monoclonal antibody IL22JOP reacts with and inhibits the bioactivity of human and mouse IL-22.
IL-22 is a 20 kDa cytokine of the IL-10 family, secreted mainly by Th17, NK, and T cells. IL-23 induces higher IL-22 levels in Th17 cells compared to IL-6 or TGF-β, suggesting secretion by fully differentiated Th17 cells in vivo.

IL-22 plays protective roles against bacterial infections in lungs and gut. Elevated IL-22 production has been observed in asthma, ankylosing spondylitis, and rheumatoid arthritis patients.

Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on TH17-polarized mouse splenocytes; use ≤ 0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume).

Target Information

IL-22, also known as IL-10-related T-cell derived inducible factor, is an α-helical cytokine in the IFN–IL-10 family (includes IL-19, IL-20, IL-24, IL-26, IL-28, IL-29).
Produced mainly by activated T and NK cells, IL-22 gene is located on chromosome 12q in humans and structurally related to IL-10.

IL-22 signals via a heterodimeric receptor complex of IL-22R1 and IL-10R2, activating the JAK-STAT pathway.
A soluble receptor form, IL-22BP, antagonizes IL-22 signaling.
IL-22 acts mainly on nonimmune cells (skin, gut, respiratory system, liver) and promotes innate immunity, antimicrobial protein expression, and wound healing.
It is critical for defense against extracellular pathogens and is upregulated during chronic inflammation through STAT3 activation.
