ATP1A1 유전자의 프로모터 활성에 영향을 주며, 세포 유형에 따라 발현 조절이 달라집니다.
또한 E-cadherin 프로모터를 억제하고 SMARCA4/BRG1을 모집하여 상피-간엽 전이(EMT)를 유도합니다.
ZEB1은 CTBP1과 상호작용하여 BCL6 전사를 억제하며, 신경 분화 조절에도 관여합니다.
ZEB1 유전자 변이는 각막이상증(후부 다형성 각막이상증, Fuchs endothelial 6 등)과 관련이 있습니다.
