Product Specific Information

A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45803 was sufficient for detection of Malondialdehyde in 2 µg of Malondialdehyde conjugated to BSA by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Specific for Malondialdehyde conjugated proteins. Does not detect free Malondialdehyde.
Does not cross-react with Acrolein, Crotonaldehyde, Hexanoyl Lysine, 4-Hydroxy-2-hexenal, 4-Hydroxy nonenal, or Methylglyoxal modified proteins.

Target Information

Malondialdehyde (CH₂(CHO)₂) is a byproduct of lipid metabolism and a highly reactive compound that forms covalent adducts with proteins, known as advanced lipoxidation end products (ALE).
It can also form mutagenic DNA adducts when reacting with deoxyadenosine and deoxyguanosine.
Malondialdehyde is present in various foods and is found in high levels in rancid foods.
