Product Specific Information

A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45801 was sufficient for detection of Malondialdehyde in 2 µg of Malondialdehyde conjugated to BSA by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Specific for Malondialdehyde-conjugated proteins. Does not detect free Malondialdehyde. Does not cross-react with Acrolein, Crotonaldehyde, Hexanoyl Lysine, 4-Hydroxy-2-hexenal, 4-Hydroxy nonenal, or Methylglyoxal modified proteins.

Target Information

Malondialdehyde (CH₂(CHO)₂) is an organic compound and a byproduct of lipid metabolism. It is a highly reactive electrophile species that can cause toxic stress in cells, forming covalent protein adducts known as advanced lipoxidation end products (ALE). It also forms mutagenic DNA adducts with deoxyadenosine and deoxyguanosine. Malondialdehyde is present in many foods and found at high levels in rancid items.
