• In direct ELISAs, approximately 30% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) Cystatin SA and rhCystatin SN is observed.
• 5% cross-reactivity with rhCystatin C and rhCystatin D.
• Less than 1% cross-reactivity with rhCystatin A, rhCystatin B, rhCystatin E/M, rhFetuin A, and rhFetuin B.
• Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
• Endotoxin level: <0.10 EU per 1 µg of antibody (LAL method).

Target Information

The cystatin superfamily includes proteins containing multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some act as active cysteine protease inhibitors, while others have lost or never acquired this activity.
There are three inhibitory families:

• Type 1 cystatins (stefins)
• Type 2 cystatins
• Kininogens

Type 2 cystatins are cysteine proteinase inhibitors found in various human fluids and secretions. The cystatin locus on chromosome 20 contains most of the type 2 cystatin genes and pseudogenes.
This gene encodes a type 2 salivary cysteine peptidase inhibitor, an S-type cystatin, highly expressed in saliva, tears, and seminal plasma. It exhibits antibacterial and antiviral activity, suggesting a protective role.
