Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of APP only when phosphorylated at Thr729.
Target Information
Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) functions as a cell surface kinesin I membrane receptor, mediating axonal transport of beta-secretase and presenilin 1. It is involved in neurite growth, neuronal adhesion, and axonogenesis. APP is a 100–140 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein with multiple isoforms resulting from alternative splicing. Proteolytic cleavage by beta- and gamma-secretases generates beta amyloid, the main component of senile plaques, a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease. Abnormal APP regulation is also associated with Down’s syndrome, early-onset familial Alzheimer’s disease, and cerebral hemorrhage.
