Antibody detects endogenous levels of ALK only when phosphorylated at Tyr1078.
Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. The most common alteration is chromosomal rearrangement creating a fusion gene between ALK (chromosome 2) and nucleophosmin (chromosome 5). The NPM-ALK fusion gene product is oncogenic. ALK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, absent in the transforming NPM-ALK product. ALK shows high sequence similarity to LTK and plays a critical role in neuronal development.
