Target Information
The Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) family of proteins share similar domain structures and are involved in transduction of signals from cell surface receptors to the actin cytoskeleton. These proteins interact with multiple regulatory motifs and proteins. WASL, a homolog of WAS protein, is ubiquitously expressed and shows highest expression in neural tissues. It binds directly to Cdc42 and induces formation of long actin microspikes, playing a key role in actin filament organization.
