Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat IL-1β. The anti-Rat IL-1β-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat IL-1β by sandwich ELISA (100 µL/well antibody solution), use 0.25–1.0 µg/mL.
This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, used with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Rat IL-1β (500-P80) as a capture antibody, enables detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat IL-1β.

Western Blot:
To detect Rat IL-1β, use 0.1–0.2 µg/mL.
With compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat IL-1β is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form that requires cleavage by caspase-1 upon inflammasome activation to become active (17 kDa).
IL-1β lacks a classical signal sequence and is secreted via an alternative pathway alongside caspase-1.
It signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1α, and its activity can be inhibited by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA).
IL-1β plays a key role in innate immunity, inducing proinflammatory cytokines and acute-phase responses.
Elevated IL-1β levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases, and IL-1β neutralizing antibodies have potential therapeutic value.
