Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human GDNF. Anti-Human GDNF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Human GDNF matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human GDNF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human GDNF (500-P81Bt) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human GDNF.

Western Blot:
To detect Human GDNF by Western Blot analysis, use at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human GDNF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

GDNF is a glycosylated, disulfide-bonded homodimer molecule. It was first discovered as a potent survival factor for midbrain dopaminergic neurons and was later shown to rescue these neurons in animal models of Parkinson’s disease. GDNF is approximately 100 times more efficient as a survival factor for spinal motor neurons than neurotrophins. It enhances survival and morphological differentiation of dopaminergic neurons and increases their high-affinity dopamine uptake.
