Target Information
Human malignant neoplasms carry rejection antigens recognized by autologous, tumor-directed CD8+ cytolytic T lymphocytes. The MAGE family of genes encodes such melanoma-associated antigens (MAAs). MAGE-1 is expressed in a wide range of human tumors (melanoma, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast, gastric, colorectal, ovarian, renal carcinomas) but not in normal tissues, making it a potential marker for early detection and a target for cancer immunotherapy.
