Cytokeratin 18 (Keratin 18, KRT18, type I cytoskeletal 18)는 저분자량 케라틴의 산성(type A) 하위군에 속하며, Cytokeratin 8과 함께 존재합니다. 위장관, 호흡기, 비뇨생식기, 내분비 및 외분비 조직, 중피세포에서 발현됩니다. 주로 비편평 상피세포에서 발견되며, 대부분의 선암 및 관암에서 존재하지만 편평세포암에서는 나타나지 않습니다. 간세포암은 Cytokeratin 8과 18만을 발현합니다. Cytokeratin 18 유전자 변이는 Cryptogenic cirrhosis와 연관되어 있습니다. 두 가지 전사 변이가 동일한 단백질을 암호화하며, Cytokeratin 아형 발현 패턴은 다양한 상피성 악성종양의 구별에 활용됩니다. Cytokeratin 항체는 면역조직화학, 세포병리학, 유세포 분석 등에서 종양 진단 보조 도구로 유용합니다.
