Target Information
The 26S proteasome (PSMD11) is a multicatalytic proteinase complex composed of two main parts: a 20S core and a 19S regulator.
- The 20S core has four rings of 28 non-identical subunits (two rings of 7 alpha and two rings of 7 beta subunits).
- The 19S regulator includes a base (6 ATPase and 2 non-ATPase subunits) and a lid (up to 10 non-ATPase subunits).
Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells and degrade peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal pathway. The immunoproteasome variant plays a key role in processing class I MHC peptides. PSMD11 is a non-ATPase subunit of the 19S regulator.
