Product Specific Information

The APB5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD140b molecule, the beta chain of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFRB). PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase that forms dimers upon ligand binding and phosphorylates substrates. Dimers can be alpha/alpha, beta/beta, or alpha/beta heterodimers, serving as substrates for kinase activity. CD140b is expressed in embryonic tissues and mesenchymal-derived adult mouse cells. PDGFRB plays a significant role in the formation of fibrous atherosclerotic lesions.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of NIH 3T3 cells; ≤0.5 µg/test in 100 µL volume (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.
Excitation: 633–647 nm; Emission: 660 nm; Laser: Red Laser.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.


Target Information

PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. It acts as a mitogen for mesenchymal-origin cells. The receptor forms homodimers or heterodimers depending on the bound growth factor. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, adjacent to granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor genes, all potentially involved in 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB with ETV6 results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
