The JAA17 monoclonal antibody recognizes human CD141 (Thrombomodulin, Fetomodulin, BDCA-3).
CD141 is a type I membrane receptor that binds and activates thrombin, forming a complex that cleaves protein C and TAFI, initiating anticoagulant and antifibrinolytic pathways. Soluble thrombomodulin is present at low levels in serum but can increase during inflammation, contributing to anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting thrombin’s pro-inflammatory effects.
Mutations in the CD141 gene are associated with thromboembolic disease (inherited thrombophilia). CD141 is highly expressed on vascular endothelial cells and myeloid cells (dendritic cells, macrophages, monocytes). It is widely used as a marker of cross-presenting dendritic cells in human tissues. Retinoic acid can upregulate CD141 expression on human dendritic cells.
This antibody recognizes CD141 on formaldehyde-fixed and permeabilized cells. It has been pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage is 5 µL (0.125 µg) per 100 µL cell suspension (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information
Thrombomodulin (TM), also known as Fetomodulin or endothelial anticoagulant protein, contains six EGF-like domains and a lectin-like domain. It accelerates protein C activation, contributing to thrombo-resistance and reducing clot formation on endothelial surfaces. TM immunostaining is used in studies of vascular tumors, meningiomas, and choriocarcinomas.
