Product Specific Information
PA1-1051 detects perilipin A from rat and 3T3-L1 cell extracts.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, detecting an approximately 62 kDa protein representing perilipin A from 3T3-L1 cell extract.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues C E(502) P I L G R T Q Y S Q L R K K S(517) of rat Perilipin A, with 93% sequence conservation in humans.
The immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-169) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.
Target Information
Adipose tissue functions as an energy reserve and is tightly regulated. Adipocytes secrete various proteins including lipoprotein lipase (LPL), leptin, Acrp30, resistin, and perilipin.
Perilipin is an intracellular neutral lipid droplet protein regulated hormonally and localized to the surface of lipid droplets.
Upon lipolytic stimulation, perilipin is phosphorylated by protein kinase A and modulates hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) activity, affecting triacylglycerol hydrolysis.
Perilipin expression is restricted to adipocytes and steroidogenic cells, with two isoforms (A and B) produced by alternative splicing of a single gene.
