PA1-1047 detects RELM beta from mouse samples.
It has successfully been used in Western blot and immunohistochemistry procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~18 kDa protein representing recombinant mouse RELM beta.
The PA1-1047 immunogen is full-length, native folded and active recombinant mouse RELM beta.

Target Information

Adipose tissue serves as a regulated energy reserve in animals. Adipose cells produce and secrete numerous physiologically important proteins, such as:

• Lipoprotein lipase (LPL)
• Leptin
• Adipocyte complement related protein of 30 kDa (Acrp30)
• Perilipin
• Resistin (also known as Adipocyte Secreted Factor (ADSF) and FIZZ3)

Resistin is a cytokine specifically secreted by adipocytes. Although its function is not fully understood, it plays key paracrine roles and is suggested to be involved in type 2 diabetes.
Studies show that in obese, diabetic mice, serum resistin levels are increased, antagonizing insulin. Resistin causes insulin resistance and glucose intolerance in mice.
Resistin gene expression requires C/EBP alpha, which is necessary and sufficient for expression. Coactivators CBP and p300, which exhibit histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activity, acetylate histones at the resistin promoter, activating chromatin for transcription.
Numerous PPAR gamma and RXR ligands downregulate resistin expression in adipocytes.
