Target Information
LDL-related proteins LRP5 and LRP6 are members of the LDL receptor superfamily involved in the canonical Wnt signaling pathway. Mammalian LRP6 binds Wnt1 and enhances Wnt-induced developmental processes in Xenopus embryos. Mice lacking LRP6 exhibit developmental defects similar to those caused by Wnt protein deficiencies. Recent studies show Wnt proteins induce LRP5 binding to Axin, leading to Axin degradation and β-catenin stabilization.
