Target Information
LDL-related proteins, LRP5 and LRP6, belong to the LDL receptor superfamily and are involved in the canonical Wnt signaling pathway.
Mammalian LRP6 binds to Wnt1 and enhances Wnt-induced developmental processes in Xenopus embryos.
Mice lacking LRP6 exhibit developmental defects similar to those caused by deficiencies in various Wnt proteins.
Recent studies show that Wnt proteins induce LRP5 binding to Axin, leading to Axin degradation and β-catenin stabilization.
