Product Specific Information
The BV13 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse VE-Cadherin (CD144), a 120 kDa member of the type II Cadherin family. VE-Cadherin mediates homophilic adhesion between endothelial cells and is localized in adherens junctions. It is constitutively expressed throughout the vasculature and is essential for endothelial cell migration, survival, and assembly into tubular structures. VE-Cadherin⁺CD45⁻ cells from the yolk sac or AGM may give rise to hematopoietic cells.

Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of bEnd.3 cells at ≤2 µg/test. Recommended titration for optimal performance.

Target Information
VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein located in a six-cadherin cluster on chromosome 16. It contains five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. VE-cadherin functions as a classic cadherin, mediating homophilic adhesion and maintaining endothelial junction integrity. It is implicated in endothelial biology and tumor progression. An alternative splice variant has been described.
