This antibody detects endogenous levels of total 67kDa Laminin Receptor.
Target Information
Laminins are extracellular matrix glycoproteins forming the major noncollagenous component of basement membranes. They play key roles in cell adhesion, differentiation, migration, signaling, neurite outgrowth, and metastasis. Laminin effects are mediated through integrin and non-integrin laminin-binding receptors.
The RPSA gene encodes a high-affinity, non-integrin laminin receptor (67 kD laminin receptor / 37 kD laminin receptor precursor / p40 ribosome-associated protein). Its sequence is highly conserved, and expression is elevated in certain cancer tissues, correlating with invasive and metastatic phenotypes. Multiple pseudogenes exist due to retropositional events, and two alternatively spliced transcripts encode the same protein.
