Target Information
ZFPM1 is a transcription regulator essential for erythroid and megakaryocytic cell differentiation. It functions as a cofactor by forming heterodimers with GATA family transcription factors (GATA1, GATA2, GATA3), which can either activate or repress transcription depending on the cellular and promoter context. These heterodimers are crucial for activating genes such as NFE2, ITGA2B, alpha- and beta-globin, and repressing KLF1. ZFPM1 may also regulate genes in gonads and play a role in cardiac development alongside ZFPM2/FOG2.
