Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) is a cell surface receptor expressed on T cells and pro-B cells. Binding of its two ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, can down-regulate the immune system by inhibiting T-cell activation. PD-1 is an important immune checkpoint and a popular target for therapeutic antibodies against various cancers.

GenScript Anti-Human PD-1 Antibody (PD1.H5), mAb, Mouse is produced from the hybridoma resulting from fusion of SP2/0 myeloma and B-lymphocytes obtained from mouse immunized with recombinant human PD-1-Fc (Z03370).

Target Information

Cell-mediated immune responses are initiated by T lymphocytes stimulated by peptides bound to MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APCs). Activated T cells express receptors such as PD-1 (PDCD-1) that mediate inhibitory signals from APCs. PD-1 binds two ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, and upon binding, inhibits immune activation in the absence of danger signals such as LPS.

PD-1 deficient mice exhibit hyperactivated immune systems and autoimmune diseases. Despite its predicted molecular weight, PD-1 often migrates at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE.
