EGFR Antibody is directed against human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and is useful in determining its presence in ELISA and Western blot experiments.
This antibody can detect EGFR from human, mouse, and rat sources. Reactivity with other species is unknown.

Target Information

EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that mediates signaling in response to various growth factors. Overexpression has been linked to numerous cancers, making EGFR a major target for both biological and small-molecule therapeutics.
The EGFR gene is located on chromosome 7 in humans and belongs to the HER/ERbB family, which includes ERbB2, ERbB3, and ERbB4.
EGFR is a transmembrane receptor; ligand binding (e.g., EGF, TGF-α) induces dimerization and autophosphorylation of cytoplasmic tyrosine residues.
Overexpression is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, and esophagus, as well as in squamous cell carcinoma.
