Target Information
Thrombomodulin (TM), also known as Fetomodulin (FM), endothelial anticoagulant protein, or glycoprotein P112, is a membrane glycoprotein expressed on endothelial cells. It contains six EGF-like domains and a lectin-like domain at the amino terminus. TM plays a crucial role in maintaining thrombo-resistance by accelerating the activation of protein C, thereby reducing clot formation on endothelial surfaces.
Immunohistochemical staining for TM is used in the study of vascular tumors, meningiomas, and choriocarcinomas.
