Cytokeratin pan belongs to a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins exhibiting remarkable biochemical diversity. In human epithelial tissues, at least 20 different cytokeratin polypeptides are expressed, ranging from 40–68 kDa with an isoelectric pH between 4.9–7.8.
Cytokeratin expression patterns vary by epithelial type, maturation stage, and disease state, making them valuable markers in cancer research and tumor diagnosis.
