Product Specific Information

OPA1-10100 detects EGFR from human, mouse, and rat samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation procedures.
The immunizing peptide corresponds to the carboxy terminal region of human EGFR.

Target Information

EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that signals in response to various growth factors.
Overexpression has been linked to numerous types of cancer, and EGFR is the target of both biological and small molecule therapeutics.
EGFR is encoded by the EGFR gene located on chromosome 7 in humans and belongs to the HER/ERbB family of proteins, which includes ERbB2, ERbB3, and ERbB4.
Binding of ligands such as EGF and TGF-α to the extracellular domain leads to EGFR dimerization and autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic domain.
Overexpression is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, and squamous cell carcinoma.
