Target Information
Guanylyl cyclases catalyze the production of cGMP from GTP and exist in soluble and membrane forms. Membrane guanylyl cyclases (A–F) act as cell-surface receptors with an extracellular ligand-binding domain, a single transmembrane domain, and an intracellular region containing a protein kinase-like domain and a cyclase catalytic domain.
GC-A and GC-B function as receptors for natriuretic peptides (atrial and brain natriuretic peptides, respectively). NPR1 encodes a membrane-bound guanylate cyclase that serves as the receptor for both ANP and BNP.
