Target Information
Guanylyl cyclases catalyze the production of cGMP from GTP and exist in soluble and membrane-bound forms. Membrane guanylyl cyclases (A–F) are cell-surface receptors with similar structures: extracellular ligand-binding, single transmembrane, and intracellular kinase-like and cyclase domains. GC-A and GC-B act as receptors for natriuretic peptides (atrial and brain). NPR1 encodes a membrane-bound guanylate cyclase serving as the receptor for atrial and brain natriuretic peptides (ANP and BNP).
